SpecBamf41
since my center diff fused its self together i had a 4wd car for about 2 week. got sick of haveing the car bind to a stop in parking lots while turning, i plan on getting a new tranny anyway so i figured RWD would be more fun then Front. so i know your all asking, omg, how did you i do it? simple and cheap. just took some spare axles i had and took the shafts out of them and put the stubs in place of the front axles on the car. and thats it. the center diff is so toast that all the power goes to the rear. i would of welding the rear diff if i had a better welder BNR18g on 93oct
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted July 24, 2012 I Donated Share Posted July 24, 2012 I hope you put the outer axle stubs through the wheel bearing or else your wheel is going to fall off. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." SpecBamf41
Is that wrong? Idk. I just threw a stub in each because I thought it was a good idea anyway Sent from my Galaxy Tab using TapaTalk 2 BNR18g on 93oct
Off Road SHO
What Broke was probably alluding to was that the front wheel bearing pack is probably made out of two tapered roller bearings, that don't act as bearings until they are tightened up with the axle stub nut. The other end of the axles may also be needed in the trans axle to keep in fluid. Tom
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted July 24, 2012 I Donated Share Posted July 24, 2012 The facepalm is because I have a center diff that you were suppose to buy lol Off Road SHO is right about the bearing. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." skibob6
Aren't the front bearings the newer one piece style?
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted July 26, 2012 I Donated Share Posted July 26, 2012 Aren't the front bearings the newer one piece style? They are like these http://www.allzim.com/acatalog/999.053.050.00.jpg They don't work as a bearing until they are torqued between the axle and the axle nut. As well, they have a tendancy to fall apart if nothing is holding the two halfs together. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
