SomethingWittyAsAUsername
I'm thinking of replacing my rear hub assembly this week. I've never ventured this far before into the car, and my experience is somewhat lacking. I have the basic stands and wrenches, but nothing too special. Is this possible for me in my current situation?

I Donated broknindarkagain Posted June 24, 2012 I Donated Share Posted June 24, 2012 I'm thinking of replacing my rear hub assembly this week. I've never ventured this far before into the car, and my experience is somewhat lacking. I have the basic stands and wrenches, but nothing too special. Is this possible for me in my current situation? If you're talking about the entire knuckle, then with basic tools its likely not possible. I had to take one of my lateral links off of my car (the two arms that go to the bottom of the rear knuckle). I would have never gotten it if it wasn't for my air hammer (heavy duty snap-on one)....and even with that it was still a struggle. Those things like to rust in place....that one long bottom bolt (thats about a foot long) is nearly impossible to break loose. You can get the nut off the front side of it...but the bolt its self won't budge. My 600ft lbs impact couldn't even get it to so much as budge. I even heated the hell out of it with the acetylene torch and used a shit ton of PB Blaster. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." wish
don't you need a hub puller?
SpecBamf41
Hub pulled? They just bolt onto the rear lat links and the strut and trailing arm. You mean getting the bearings pressed out?
