Oil Cooler (am i nuts?)

Recommended Posts

Most oil leaks after replacing gaskets are caused by improper torque...usually over torquing.

this has held true for decades. all it takes is a few ft/lbs extra to cause that dimple and its done. chevy 350 pans were notorious for that, and no amount of gasketing or sealant would help once it started.

Well im gonna replace it with the felpro I believe, and torque it correctly. Since I own torque wrenches, but I don't own a FSM. Someone wanna steer me towards the right torquing pattern on this.

here ya go, this is for a 95.

RTV works just fine and is cheap. Fujibond would be better, but costs more. As far as torquing the bolts, 3.6 ft. lbs is not much. Just tighten it down in a nice star pattern and use common sense. Just follow the instructions given on the package of the sealant. You tighten the bolts down until the sealant starts to squish out, wait 30 minutes or an hour, and then give all the bolts another 1/4 turn.
