Exterior Trim: Matte Black Vinyl | Interior Trim: 3M-DINOC Carbon Fiber

Exterior Trim: Matte Black Vinyl

You'll need black vinyl, plastic trim removal kit, Phillips screw driver, masking tape and heat gun.

You'll have to remove the mirrors and the bottom exterior trims in order to wrap it around the entire bottom trim piece and tuck the vinyl into the back of the trim. The big arc trim on the back windows will require a big sheet to cover. If you don't think you can do this clean, I'd highly recommend taking your car to a good shop that wraps vinyl on luxury cars. Cost plus labor shouldn't be more than $150. If you're going to take your Legacy to a shop to have this done, make sure they use a full sheet to cover the big arc trim on the back windows. The instructions to remove the mirrors are HERE. (You'll need to register with ScoobyMods to log in and see the attached pictures.)

Also remounted the roof spoiler with better 3M HD mounting tape.

Interior Trim: 3M-DINOC Carbon Fiber

You'll need 3M-DINOC carbon fiber vinyl, plastic trim removal kit, Phillips screw driver, masking tape and heat gun.

If you don't think you can do this clean, I'd highly recommend taking your car to a good shop that wraps vinyl on luxury cars. The hardest part would be making the surface look even, and tucking the edges clean. Cost plus labor shouldn't be more than $250 if you'd take the trims off first. The instructions to get to the trims are HERE and HERE. (You'll need to register with ScoobyMods to log in and see the attached pictures.)

Looks really nice, I'd definitely consider the CF wrap on the interior trim since mine is just silver. As far as wrapping the exterior trim though I think I would have just saved myself the hassle and plasti-dipped it. At any rate, looks great

Can you post a close up pic of the lower exterior chrome trim pieces?

I need to take mine to a shop or try and do it myself. I want to see how you did the lower pieces because these are the main concern for me if I was to do this.

Sure I'll take a shot tomorrow during the day. Like I explained in the first post, you'll have to remove the mirrors, remove the bottom trim and have them wrap around the whole thing and tuck it in the back.

Cool thanks...look forward to seeing the pics. I am familiar with how the trim is attached. I removed mine to plastidip them but has started to peel in some places. I'm probably going to remove them to wrap them.

I thought the only way to make it work was to try and fit the vinyl on the chrome only and not on the rubber. The vinyl doesn't have a problem adhering to the rubber?

Well its holding fine right now, but if they ever peel I'll just redo them. You just have to clean the surface real well. After they are wrapped, give it a day or two for the trapped air to get out. If not, make little holes with a blade and get all the air out so it sticks better. They should be fine as long as they are tucked in.

It looks like you didn't wrap around the top edge of the lower trim, or did you?

Not the part that touches the window, you have to take the trim off the car to wrap this right. I can try to wrap this for you if you have the materials. I'm in UTC/La Jolla area. I believe Pepboys sell 1.5-2" vinyl roll in matte black.

Is there a preference as to which is easier to put the 3M-DINOC or the Matte Black Vinyl?....or do they both use the same principles of application?

And am I mistaken but I thought you use a hair dryer to properly stretch the material onto the surface...or is that a different material/item that they do that with?

Matte black vinyl was used on the windows trim, but different brand could have different quality. I've used really good ones in the past where you can stretch and bend it all you want, this time its a different brand tore pretty easily. 3M DI-NOC is very strong, but you'd use the same hands-on skills to apply. After you stretch out the DI-NOC material onto the trim, you should use a heat gun to make it even on the surface. Some would even use a torch, but it really depends if you're good at these kind of stuff or not. I personally recommend everyone just take your car to a professional that wraps regularly where if it does peel or have any problems you can always take it back and maybe even have them redo it.

I've called a few shops here in SD and they charge wayyy too much...like $250 ($125 a side). This shop even has experience wrapping trim on Subaru's and can only guarantee at the most 95% coverage on the lower trim because of the way the chrome "floats" in between the rubber. :(

Looks like i'll be doing this myself.

The bottom trim will somewhat float between the rubbers because that's just how it is, but it honestly looks clean to me at least on my car. It does depend on how you wrap it thou. There's a place that does this for $150 but its all the way in El Monte. If the only part you gotta redo are the bottom trims, just buy a roll of vinyl and try to wrap it yourself. Again, if you need any 'assistance', I'm available Mon-Thurs. :)

Very nice, clean job.

I kick myself everyday for not getting RRP. It looks amazing all cleaned up.

I would have gone RRP if one of my neighbors didn't already have it before I ordered mine.
