lccl
I just bought an 05 LGT wagon. The silver colored pieces in the doors by the window switches aren't in the best shape however and I would like to re-paint them. I'm curious as to what I will be looking at once I take the door panel off. Can I take this piece off separately to paint it? This is the silver piece I'm talking about, thanks for any and all help http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b29/jj11nfg/IMAG1208.jpg
LegacyMUN2k6
You could always try wrapping them in a cloth or fabric or applying a material over them for a desired look.
lccl
Hmmm, like vinyl wrap it? Might be cool in suede ha. But to do that I'd have to take the piece off, which is what I'm wondering if is possible before I tackle it.
pillboy
That's why I made my step-daughter take off her twenty rings before she rode in my car (while she still lived at home). It is still ugly.
lccl
I searched and found a few threads pertaining to the paint color to re-paint or touch up, but nothing about if this piece can be actually taken off. I'm curious if it's held in by simple plastic screws or are part of the panel, or if the handle is going to be a problem
JPU1
is that the color it's supposed to be? Mine is dark silver like the radio
lccl
It is the same silver color as the radio/climate control face in my car, bad picture
Hoojammyflip
Don't know if this helps - but here is the inside of one of the rear doors... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v704/hoojamyflip/Legacy%20Twinscroll/Interior%20Fan%20and%20ventilation/18b84271.jpg The little black dots seem to be plastic welding I guess they could be cut or drilled out maybe and then find a way to fix it back together... I haven't tried yet though
LegacyDan
mine is badly worn too, and the panel is plastic welded alright, you could probably heat it up take it out and re-paint it, then re-heat it and put it back in and re-heat into place
lccl
I finally took the panel off and noticed that. Saw the plastic welds and just said "damnit". I was hoping for some plastic clips or screws. Could break the plastic welds and gorrilla glue them back. Don't know if I want to deal with the heat/reheat. Don't want to deal with the glue either for that matter. Damnit
