bluesuby
Last night I changed the air filter and overlooked reconnecting the MAF sensor plug. Started it this morning and I knew exactly where I screwed up, so I shut it off, reconnected the MAF plug and drove off. 25 miles later and Check Engine is still lit, and Cruise is flashing annoyingly. I removed and reconnected the negative battery terminal and problem solved. But my question is: When you correct such an obvious problem (this or maybe a loose gas filler cap) how long does it take for the ECU to realize the problem is gone and the lights should no longer be lit? I can understand if you didn't correct the problem (such as a bad oxygen sensor) the lights would not go out, but what about the simple easily correctable faults? DocHolladay23
Once the ECU is reset the lights should not come back on unless there is another problem or you didn't fix it. shadowsports
3 drive cycles without the same error and the light will go out.

bluesuby
I guess I could have waited for three drive cycles....just run a few errands within a day. However, the combination of Check Engine and a flashing cruise made me crazy. I disconnected the battery and had to reprogram my radio stations.
