Front control arm bushing are messed up HELP!

Hi guys i'm new to this forum but seems to me you guys are more knowledgeable then most out there so I figured i'd ask a question that's been driving me up the wall. First of let me say that i've been at this for about 2 days and i can't seem to find a solution. First off my girl friend owns a 06 Legacy 2.5i SE and she had a friend replace the front bushings, well everything was good for a while but then there was a horrible grinding sound, i look under the car and there's this plate that's looks to be out of place, I took the plate off and it seems like her friend completely missed to put the plate back on. Well I didn't trust him to take it back to him so i'd thought i'd give it a go at putting it back on, it seemed simple enough, the 2 bolts that were at the chassis came off easy but when i tried to take the nut off the bushing it wouldn't give and i didn't want to pull too hard cause i was afraid i might tear the bushing. I included some pictures, if someone could pelase help me i'd appreciate it. thank you.

what do you mean? so should i pull that nut till it pops? or do i need to take the control arm off to take the nut off?

The nut is what stops the control arm from falling off, well... that and the plate your friend forgot to reinstall.

i see, so it's safe to turn it till it comes off then? the bushing wont mess up? it's just a tad scary cause when i tried to turn it the bushing starts to twist too and i don't want to tear it. I'm guessing i should put a jack under control arm so it doesn't fall on my face right? lol

I think it's time you just took the car to a professional before things get any worse than they already are.

Oh, and when you see this 'friend' again, kick him in the nuts.

I finally got the nut off, i just had to really tug on it really super hard till it popped off, but the bad news is that that bushing is pretty much toast.... again. It seems like the bushing was trying to fuse with the nut and the bushing itself looks pretty disfigured. Looks like the plate, apart from keeping the control arm in it's place, also keeps the shape and form of the bushing. I had to get crafty because the bolt was bent so the plate wouldn't go on all three bolt placements so i had to tie the plate to the bolt with the bushing and the other side of the plate to the one on the chasis, i had to use it as brace to straighten the bolt to get the last one to fit, it was noiseless for a minute then starting clunking which told me it was straighten then went back down there put in the last bolt at the end and CHA-CHA (dale king of the hill) it was aligned and fixed..... at least until I order new bushings. Any recommendations?

Shoot us an email and we can set you up with AVO, Whiteline or GroupN bushings. Where are you located?

There's also J-Speed by Marche in Japan, really good one, although I just got my Perrin PSRS just installed love it. What are you looking to get out of your car?

It's for his GFs 2.5i, my guess is daily driver.

Doesn't matter if it/s a 2.5i, anytime you're changing bits like this it makes sense to upgrade them. The OEM bushings tear regularly anyway and any money saved getting OEM bushings will be wasted on buying them again and again.

There's very little extra NVH with poly bushings.

Wellllll since the stocks dont last a long time usually replacing with the aftermarket probably will last longer hence install prices included its cheaper to buy those instead. Unless you get a bad batch.

My Powerflex bushings squeak and moan worse than my wife. There is no more harshness IF I never slow below about 50kph.

It's his GFs car, so I would recommend getting OEM bushings. No need to dump $$$ in a car that's not going to be modded.

Except they will need to be replaced again in another 50k miles.
