taylormac1993
I recently purchased a 1998 Legacy Outback and I've got a question for you guys. I always thought Legacy and Outback were both base models from Subaru. How come mine is a Legacy Outback? I thought maybe it was the wagon version of a legacy, but it looks nothing like a legacy wagon. It looks just like a normal outback. Please help me out with any info and/or history you may have! thanks!
TexasLegacy2.5GT
It depends. Does your Outback have "Limited" gold badges on the front doors? Also the is a "GT" version of the wagon. There are several trim levels and a ton of options for the 2nd Gen legacy.
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted May 6, 2012 I Donated Share Posted May 6, 2012 No what he means is he thought the Legacy and Outback were different models. Today they are. But up until 2004 the Outback was always a "Legacy". It was just a Legacy wagon with taller suspension, different swaybars, body spacers, and different bumpers. In 2004 they moved the Outback to its own platform -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." taylormac1993
@TexasLegacy2.5GT - None of the badges were "Limited" or "GT". The only badging on the car is a "Legacy" on the left of the hatch and "Outback" and "AWD" on the right side of the hatch. @broknindarkagain - So "Outback" was just another trim of the Legacy wagon up until '04? I Donated broknindarkagain Posted May 6, 2012 I Donated Share Posted May 6, 2012 Yeah. It was a modified legacy -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
