Half Second Delay Circuit?

JPU1

Recommended Posts

So heres my idea. I have Supertones, I LOVE THEM:wub:. However sometimes I want to just say "Beep Beep, Hello"... not "BEEP! BEEP!, F U!". A simple defeat switch would be simple enough and do the job, But I am thinking a time delay circuit.

My stock horns are also still functioning, I want to put a .5 second delay in the trigger for my Hella Relay. That way if I just tap the horn my friends, or fellow motorists won't be assaulted by 118 decibels of fury. But God help you if I lay on it!

I know there are electronics guys out there, can you help me? Do I need a capacitor? a resistor?

Thanks in Advance!

555 timer. Just choose your resistor and cap to get the time delay you want.

This is odd, though. A quick bump gives me a "soft" supertones honk.

OK, so I have research to do. TY for the guidance.

I have the part number on my computer, but I want to say its something like LMC555 from Texas Instruments.

Googling "Texas Instruments 555" will probably pull up the data sheet. It will have the wiring to create a "delay on" circuit.
