new2theru Posted April 5, 2012 Share Posted April 5, 2012 I have a 2007 Legacy gt 5eat and have recently noticed a knocking sound. It sounds like an engine knock but the dtrange thing is I can only hear it from inside the car with the windows up and doors closed. I've raised the hood and cant hear anything but valve chatter and normal engine noise. The oil level is good and always changed at 3500 miles. Do you hear this sound at idle ? 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. new2theru Posted April 5, 2012 Author Share Posted April 5, 2012 I hear the sound at idle and as i give it gas its gets faster with engine speed. I've turned off everything I can to try and hear it better. Sometimes it sounds like a deisel in the cabin but I cannot hear it from outside the car. Could it be a rod knock? new2theru Posted April 11, 2012 Author Share Posted April 11, 2012 Funny you say that it may be the trans I had a trans flush at the local Subaru dealership and they put the wrong fluid back in and I had to get it redine the next day but have had my concerns with it like if they really redid it with the correct fluid or not and if replacing all the fluid with the wrong kind could have done anything to it cause it did feel like it was slipping and not knowing what to do for a while after having it done but after about 500 miles that seemed to fade Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
