Good race at St. Pete aside from Rossi's bonehead move to take the lead at the end, taking out the leader. Racing incident but still a stupid move. Rossi lost the rear end before he even got to the apex. And it shouldn't have happened. Typical IndyCar full course caution for no good reason. Local yellow would've been fine but nooooooooooooo. Freaking safety pussies.

Neal Diamond should also do a remake of Forever in Bluejeans, but call it Forever in Full Course Yellow. Freaking safety pussies.

Not that I'm bitter or anything.

I lost respect for rossi that looked like a NASCAR move and no penalty.

Those cars look great and sound good also.

No halo for you.

I'm a Rossi fan but it was a banzai move on Wickens. I don't think Rossi should've been penalized, though. It was a badly designed but legitimate pass attempt for victory and Rossi suffered. If he had won, I bet the stewards would've penalized him, though.

And no halo for any IndyCar!!!

OK use the Halo but set it up using airbag technology.

When not needed it would be retracted into the body work laying flush with the cowl and using sensors/deceleration gizmos/radar to deploy it at impact or when it "sees" an object coming at it at high speed or you are about to run into something. Airbags fire in milliseconds seems easy to shoot the halo mounted on struts of some sort straight up. Better yet mount it in the shape of a "Y" pivot/hinge it in from the front with the "charges" that push it up on each side of the drivers head. The tilt of the unit deployed would also create an angle to push debris away from the car.

They have the technology and if it weights 20# or so bfd

They have airbags for bikes now, they have radar to apply brakes in the family sedan you would think they could figure this out.

AJ Foyt has survived his second attack by African bees. Once again, AJ on his bulldozer pissed off a hive. The first time he was attacked years ago he had 200 stings on his alone. One tough son of a bitch. You go AJ. You're a legend.

Bosco, you should set up a blimp racing league. Seems about the level of risk you like.

OK ace why would a retractable halo deployed when needed be a bad thing?

You should look into that maybe a doctor would give you permission to race.

First, Racecars aren't transformers... Any structure that could be instantly deployed certainly wouldn't be capable of withstanding the ridiculous impact testing required by the FIA.

And second, the kind of sensors and computing necessary to detect and activate such a system would be prohibitively bulky. Have you seen the lidar/radar/video/ultrasonic sensor suites fitted to the roofs of DARPA and other fully autonomous vehicles? Not gonna happen, even with F1 money.

Have you seen the story on McLaren? Since the halo looks so much like a the top of a flip flop, they now have a flip flop sponsor sticker on their halo. You know Ron Dennis didn't have enough of a sense of humor to do that.

Well, that's one way to see it - another is to see the halo as the toilet seat ring.

McLaren has issues - not one issue, issues!
