Kipper
I have a 96 subaru legacy L wagon. Automatic Tranny. My oil pan gastet is leaking. What is the easiest way to accomplish this? Do I have to take the exhaust off at the y-section? Any suggestions?
monkeyposeur
You just remove the mess of screws/bolts that hold it on, tap it off, scotch brite both mating surfaces clean, apply some RTV sealant like Permatex Ultra Gray (I go around each bolt hole too), screw it back on until the sealant starts to ooze it out and the bolts are finger tight, wait an hour and tighten the bolts to 3.7 ft lbs, and you're done. Jippi
i managed to wiggle it out with out messing with the exhaust. using a block of wood adn the floor jack i lifted the motor as high as it can go then i took some wood blocks i cut and shimmed the motor up at the mounts adn then wiggled the pan loose. it took a bit longer bit it was a holiday weekend and stores were close so exhaust partrs are hard to get if they break on the holidays \
