I don't see it cornering very well. Beyond that, over the course of a Le Mans lap, I do not think it would be particularly fast compared to the AUDI's and the Peugeot's. It may burn less fuel and wear tires less than the conventional prototypes which in turn may translate into fewer pit stops. I think that is what they're betting on.

According to Mulsanne's Corner, they developers have worked with the ACO to set a target lap time between LMP1 and LMP2, and as part of that goal the car's top speed is only 300kph/186mph. That means they're shooting for a lap in the mid 3:30s (pole last year was a 3:25, fastest petrol LMP1 was 3:32, fastest LMP2 was a 3:41). It isn't classified with the rest of the cars, so it's really just a demonstration of the technology. Their only real likely chance of victory is if the Audis (and maybe the Toyotas, depending on how they do their first year out) all drop out or have major issues, letting the DeltaWing make up time by using fewer pit stops. That said, their discussions with the ACO may have also involved running a smaller fuel cell to minimize the competitive advantage of their low drag/low weight configuration.

With just the one entry, I just really hope it doesn't get destroyed in a practice or quali accident.

I love this shot:
