Turkeylord
Did some searching and haven't found much info. I have both available in 91 octane form locally. So, trying to get some basic understanding here. I understand the whole "up to 10% ethanol added" thing, but: Is 91 oxygenated (E10) 90% 91 oct gas + 10% ethanol? That would seem to theoretically work out to 92.7 octane. Or is it 90% 89 oct gas + 10% ethanol, which would work out to 90.9 octane? As I understand it, for a given volume of air, you'd need to burn a larger volume of E10 than non-oxy to reach stoich, but it's not such a huge change that the fuel trims would't be able to adjust for it. How fast do the trims react? If someone was running non-oxy and switched to E10, would they be potentially dangerously lean till the trims worked it out? Lots of questions I know, sorry, lol... PhilT
It;s not oxygenated fuel you need, it's nitrogen enriched fuel. Double Award Winning Legacy GT Wagon

Turkeylord
Bump... No opinions out there? Or doesn't anyone run non-oxy?
spec.B Dream
Or is it 90% 89 oct gas + 10% ethanol, which would work out to 90.9 octane? This one. The add ethanol to lower octane gasoline to bring up the octane level to that stated on the pump. The gas at the pump should match the rating when using the stated calculation (usually r+m/2)
Turkeylord
Thanks, that makes sense. Maybe once my tune is finished I'll log a run on non-oxy and see how it looks.
