GotTurboWut
Both valve cover gaskets were replaced last week. Check engine light hasn't returned since my oil change. Would coolant burning cause white smoke? I want to keep this car...
captainobvious
Yep it would. I would check that coolant line on the side of the turbo. A slow drip will cause it to smoke and then when it is under pressure. I had the same think happen to me. It was coming out of the hood scoop when the car was sitting at idle after warming up. GotTurboWut
Hope that's it. I started my car back up just a few minutes after getting home...Nothing, no smell at all coming through the vents at full blast and no smoke coming from the turbo area. Like you said, only after it's under pressure. I looked around the turbo and the lines but didn't see any leak.
captainobvious
A mechanic friend of mine was able to test it with it off. He put a pump over the rad cap and pumped it up and was able to see it seeping through the hose and dripping down. New clamp and the problem was solved. Hope its an easy fix for you as well. GotTurboWut
That would be the best case scenario. In the past week, my car has been to an independant shop and Subaru dealership so it's definitely been torn down and put together recently (valve cover gaskets replaced). Something is still leaking b/c of this white smoke and smell coming through the vents.
captainobvious
Check that first. Bet your having the same issue. Who did your valve cover gaskets?

GTTuner
I see a lot of cracked turbo oil supply lines, they usually drip on the the up pipe and it burns off before it hits the ground.
GotTurboWut
I'm hoping it is just a coolant or oil line. Monday can't come soon enough. Just in case, again, looking at used vf 46's. New form subaru 1,150!! No way...
