Ford Fusion 2013

"The performance edition of the Fusion comes with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, six-speed SelectShift automatic with paddle shifters, optional 19-inch wheels and tires and optional all-wheel drive."

Wonder what the numbers will be?

Looks almost like an Aston Martin...

Only the 2.0L Ecoboost will have the AWD option.

Only the 1.6L Ecoboost will have an available manual transmission (6-speed).

(TTAC, Kicking Tires)

I wonder how the 2.0L Ecoboost AWD's mpg will compare to the Legacy. The current V6 AWD options (3.0: 18/26, 3.5: 17/25) are pretty much tied with the GT and 3.6R (18/25). (Though the 3.0L is about $3k more than a base 3.6R.)

FWD projected numbers are:

2.5L: similar to current gen (22/30 - 23/33)

1.6L Ecoboost: 26/37

2.0L Ecoboost: 23/33

That 1.6L matches the Regal Hybrid (with similar power). Also about the same as the new Impreza (smaller, less power, but has AWD).

Fugly? I disagree.

They offer the 3 engines mentioned above but also a hybrid version rated for 47 / 44 mpg. Best looking plug-in car thus far, IMO. I would never buy one... but its still the best out there IMO.

I think Ford did it right here. With all the options, the Fusion meets the demands of the masses. They will sell a lot of them.

I bet Avis, Thrifty, Hertz, and every other car rental company can't wait to get them in. Are Legacy's ever a rental car?

Yes, but very rare. I rented a Legacy back in 06ish in North Carolina via Hertz.

Our 07 Tribeca was fleet vehicle. So I guess there are some out there.

I kinda wish they had left well enough alone and just given us the Euro Mondeo styling... and hatchback!:

I am interested in this car, possibly in Hybrid form. I hope it proces to be a winner.

Seek first to understand, then to be understood.

In other words: SEARCH before you post!

There will be a 6-speed manual available with the 1.6L.

The low end model is the only versions with manual transmission. What else is new? This seems to be the norm for most auto makers.

I'm probably the only person that has Wu-Tang Clan and Paul McCartney on their mp3.:p

There's now a Ford Fusion configurator available, but:

  • No pricing yet.
  • Plenty of disclaimers about it being "for survey purposes only", and that it's all subject to change.

What I noticed:

  • We knew that AWD would only be available with the 2.0L EcoBoost. But at least in this configurator, it also requires Titanium trim level.
  • A 2.0L FWD is available in SE or Titanium. Though on the SE, it requires either the Appearance Package (18" wheels, spoiler, leather steering wheel, fog lights) or Luxury Package (power/heated/memory leather seats, etc.).
  • The 1.6L EcoBoost is only available on the SE trim, but can be had with Manual, Auto, or Auto + Start/Stop.

  • 2 weeks later...

Preliminary pricing was added to the Fusion configurator. While they say "Estimated Total Price," I don't see mention of whether this includes destination or not.

Trims of note:

  • SE 1.6L (manual or auto) - $25,290
  • SE 1.6L (auto w/ Start/Stop) - $25,585
  • SE 2.0L (auto) - $26,745
  • Titanium 2.0L (auto) - $30,995
  • Titanium 2.0L AWD (auto) - $32,995

A 1.6L with heated leather (SE Luxury Package) comes to $26,795. Looks like it'd be pretty comparable to a 2.5i Limited, apart from no AWD. And a SE 2.0L without the Luxury package (does have standard "Appearance" package with spoiler, fogs, 18" alloys) is about the same price. Side mirrors are heated, have turn signal, on all SEs. Though it looks like you have to spring for the $1000 technology package to get USB (aux-in is standard).

Too bad AWD's only available on the most expensive trim level.
