PearlBlueGT
My brother was driving LGT and slid on black ice, hit rear left wheel (drivers side). Took a chunk out of the wheel, I've replaced wheel and test drove it today. at about 35-40mph there's humming noise coming from rear wheel area. What could possibly be wrong? slowGT
Wheel bearing is the first thing I think of.

PearlBlueGT
I found this on Ebay. Moog is good quality and I think that's the one I'll go with. http://www.ebay.com/itm/390363970422?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 btw did I mention I have Kumho Ecsta tires on LGT, they were on it when we bought the car. Really crappy tire for winter. I really like Falken Ziex 912s on my Mazda, they really grip the road.
Nedrex
If it's a wheel bearing the sound should change while turning typically...
PearlBlueGT
I just noticed tire person didn't install balancing weight on the inside of the rim. I'm going back tomorrow to get it balanced and hopefully that will fix noise issue
PearlBlueGT
After balancing tire it still humms/roars going down the road. I took it apart last night and ordered Timken bearing off of ebay $80 vs in the store $130+tax
PearlBlueGT
My Timken bearing arrived last night so I've finished install today, took it for a test drive-no more noise. I had to go to 5 different places to get replacement axle nut.
HAMMER DOWN
You can reuse axle nut. Loc-tite is your friend. Use "blue" medium strength & torque to spec. If you damage it where you dent it in the axle's key way. Mike Mileage:331487 Retired/Sold
