JonnyWachter
i was looking around for an up pipe and came across this, http://www.jdmcenter.com/product.html?id=subaru-legacy-gt-limited-02-07-ej20-ej25-header-up-pipe i have searched the forum and cant find anything on them. any suggestions? are they crap? for the price of a good up pipe, I could get headers also. Also i couldn't find much info on the OBX cat back exhaust, any experience, good or bad? how about sound?
jhawk222
Personally not the biggest fan of the flex section header/up. That add screams buyer beware unless someone on here has one installed and can chime in otherwise. Just my .02$
JonnyWachter
yea thats exactly why i posted the question. i was definitely cautious about it, but if it is a good piece then why not?
TRSCobra
I'd give you 6 months before that flex section comes apart from the inside and ruins your turbo...
rweezy
^^ Agreed, that flex section looks like trouble waiting to happen. Doesn't take much to shred a turbo.
TRSCobra
Take a look at this one: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=34703959&postcount=577 And it sells for more than the one you're looking at.
JonnyWachter
What if i were to get the flex joint removed and replaced with a solid bend?
TRSCobra
That header probably needs the flex joint to line the flanges up. If you bolt everything up, then cut it out and weld a solid piece in, it will fit. But it will eventually crack and leak anyways. A lot of work for something that gives little to no performance gain. Code
Are your current headers the main restriction in your exhaust right now? Probably not. If you absolutely want to upgrade them then save your money and don't buy junk that will eventually be a headache. bmx045
just get the up pipe, headers don't do a whole lot unless your stage 3+, you'll lose a little bit of low end power but a gain a little top end due to the flow increase....a small curve shift to the right
Moderators BarManBean Posted January 4, 2012 Moderators Share Posted January 4, 2012 Not to hijack this thread, but is it common opinion that any up pipe with a flex section could be a problem or just cheap knock off crap? I keep looking at up pipes and was planning to go with a flex pipe for ease of fitment and installation, but didn't realize that this could be a potential problem... bmx045
I'd say a good 9/10 of them leak from there over time. If they don't leak from there, they'll crack at the welds. One or the other....take your pick
G5892
I have a DC Sports up-pipe with a flex section. Ive had it for almost 2 years now and it hasnt given me any probelms.
