Thank You!

Recommended Posts

So it was a bittersweet day today as I sold my 2008 DGM LGT. I am trimming some of the fat from my budget and the car and insurance on the LGT was a good place to cut from.

I loved just about everything about the car, other than the 5EAT which ended up being the deciding factor. For the power goals I wanted, a 5EAT just wouldn't do. I'm not leaving the Subaru family, as I'm in the process of obtaining a 2006 WRX wagon.

I wanted to thank everyone on the forum for the helpful advice and getting me hooked on Subaru for life. I had a blast working on my car, meeting all kinds of people at the various meets and talking shop with some cool people. I'll still be roaming around the boards from time to time sharing some of the knowledge I gained.

Thanks again to everyone. And here are a few pics of her for good luck.

Bone stock the day I brought her home:

Update...

Picked up the wagon yesterday. Ignore the green wheels, they're the stockers with re092s still on them. I still have my white Rays to go on when summer rolls around.

Was insurance really lower on the WRX? That's a definite bonus.

Yeah. I dropped about $15/month on insurance.

Its definitely quicker at stage 2 than my LGT was at stage 2. But that's a combo of the weight difference and the loss of power through the torque converter in the 5EAT in the LGT.

LGT sedan to GD WRX wagon should be a nice change of pace. The LGT is way nicer and roomier than the WRX, but the WRX is a lot more nimble and tossable. And wagons are always win. Dump that TD04 ASAP though.

I agree with the 5EAT being the deciding factor in getting rid of your LGT. The slushbox really saps the fun and power from the car, and as you say is a real limiting factor if you're after big power. If you get a chance drive a 5MT and a 5EAT LGT back-to-back. It's amazing how much faster and more responsive the 5MT is.

Just wondering - did you consider a 2005 5MT LGT wagon?

It is a lot different. I haven't really pushed the WRX too hard yet, but I'm surprised at how well the td04 pulls for in town driving. I was expecting a sluggish pull after all I've read about it. I'm sure I'll find shortcomings at the top end when I drive a little harder.

I had considered the LGT wagon for a little while. I was actually looking into an OBXT after seeing a few of the ones on the board. Finding one (LGT or OBXT) close to me, in the mileage range that I was looking for, with the 5MT was near impossible and I couldn't be picky when I'm trying to trade down. I think a well done LGT wagon or OBXT is sexy, but in the end, I just couldn't picture myself driving one.

Sorry to hear about you needing to let go of the LGT. Good to see the WRX!

I let go of my LGT and stepped into a Prius. I'm still here just about every day...

Probably because merely posting about the LGT is more fun than driving a Prius. :p
