gunz4me
I think I narrowed down my next vehicle choice to either a 2012 Legacy GT or a 2012 Volvo S60 R-Design. Although I may change my mind between now and May, when I actually intend to buy, I feel that either one of those would be a suitable replacement choice for a near 40 year old Certified Public Accountant who absolutely loathes his 2006 Mustang GT. If you only knew my hate for Ford cars and my 2006 Rustang..... Anyway, aside from the traditional Lexus, Infiniti, BMW, or Mercedes, is there anything else that I should be considering? I still want to test drive a VW CC with a DSG, but I'm 5' 11" tall and I have issues with my head hitting the roof in my wife's 2011 Genesis Coupe. As a result, I'm worried that any car with a sleek roof design will give me problems. Also, I'm done with American manufactured vehicles for my next purchase. While I'd consider an American truck, I'm not in a market for a truck this go round.
ShrinerMonkey
You could add the Buick Regal GS to your list. It's only American in name as it basically a re-badged Opel Insignia.
BAC5.2
Isn't the Legacy GT built at the Indiana plant? Carpe_Diem
The ~$10,000 in price difference doesn't matter to you? The sticker of the LGT compares to the T5 and you are two models above that. From the little I have read on the T6, there is a ton of potential with tuning because Volvo severly limits the torque on it.....not sure if the R-design is just the T6 opened up more by Volvo. $10,000 more puts you in a lot of other cars than the LGT. Wang Lung
A 40 year old CPA should be driving a CTS-V.
CL21376
I seem to remember that the Volvo is only available with an automatic transmission. In which case it kinda comes down to Auto = Volvo, Manual = LGT I looked at the CC but didn't like the rear bucket seat 2+2 configuration. Acura TL is something else to consider. jim1969
No spare tire in the volvo. No fog lights either. Only air pump and can of sealant. R-design has nice power. Polestar tune ( dealer flash covered by warranty) gets you to 325 hp and 354 ft/lbs. Very crampt inside. I was considering it but with 2 kids it was too small. Magic Marker
We have an S60 T6 and love it. The R Design has some nice packaging and the "R" gives you a bump in power, but at a premium price. My buddy had a CC, but it is a tighter cabin vs. the Volvo. 2011 Volvo S60T6 & 2013 Volvo XC60T6 Polestar
gunz4me
I'm really all over the place with my budget. A couple of months ago I was trying to find a used RS4 or a IS-F until I realized that the closest Audi and Lexus dealerships were a 63 mile drive, one way. If this makes any sense, I am trying to stay away from the traditional, cliché, style vehicles for my demographic group. The only down side is while I hate my Mehstang Garbage Trinket, there currently is no vehicle on the market that just jumps out at me as a must have. dmanaenk
Get an STI, slap some RCE double adjustable coilovers, set them to close to full-soft, and be done. It'll be quite livable on the street and certainly not a cliché car for a ~40 CPA. A bit down on luxury for sure, but nothing too bad.

Get a Coupe if you want to be different, a Sedan if you want to be baller, or a Wagon if you want to turn heads. StoplightAssassin
If the low-mid 40s was my price point, I'd be looking at lightly used B8 S4s. My car hasn't seen the inside of a Subaru Dealer service bay since the day I bought it. I'm sure you have good independent Audi shops in the area. gunz4me
Oh well, rather than waiting until my second job started bringing in more money, I just bit the bullet and purchased a 2012 WRX instead as a birthday present to myself: http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c42/gunz4me2/WRX/Front_Angle.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c42/gunz4me2/WRX/Drivers_Side.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c42/gunz4me2/WRX/Back_Drivers_Angle.jpg After test driving it, I fell in love with the AWD platform as well as the ride and handling. I think this will be a much more practical daily driving vehicle than the Mustang, and I have so much more space! Most importantly, this car is FUN to drive! coppertone
Yes it is fun and wait until you start Modding it wow. The only reason that I don't park one in my garage is that I am having too much fun with my Legacy lol. Enjoy that beautiful car young man. 2010 2.5GT limited is for sale. CasopoliS
I actually really like the styling on that car... I never really looked at the 2012 model year pictures that closely. Good choice for a fun DD. Put it to stage II and be done (if you don't stop there, you never will stop). Intercooler, downpipe, panel filter in stock box, custom eTune. Perhaps some suspension bits too Might I ask what dealerships are getting for the 2012 WRX and what options you have?
