tildowns
Just talked my wife into getting a Turbo Inlet hose for me for Xmas......I have read the posts about what a pain in the ass it is to install, but do they make as much differance as claimed? Thanks
tildowns
No one has an opinion on this???? There has to be a couple of people who have these installed......and are using them.
TRSCobra
I installed a poor-fitting GMS inlet on mine last year. I only did it because I was swapping out the turbo and TGV's, and the intake was already off. Unless your turbo is big enough to need the extra flow or yours gets torn, it's not worth it. There are many more cost-effective mods than an inlet.
compsurge
Stock inlet is best for stock turbo and any BNR variety fit wise.

joeleodee
Yes, turbo inlet only necessary with a turbo that's really moving some volume. Talk her into getting you something else unless a big snail is in your future.
sumfoo1
DO NOT GET GIMMICK... IMHO i spent 3 hours wrestling with it yesterday and am not looking forward to another 3(i hope) today
BAC5.2
Turbo inlets are only necessary if you rip the stock one when reinstalling your turbo. Otherwise, it's mostly fine. I need to figure out what I want for Christmas. Hmm... m sprank
Unless you need it for your turbo, stick with the OEM.
2.5GT_dude
I only got the Perrin because my stock was falling a part at the turbo and didn't have enough confidence in the factory piece to purchase again so I spent the extra bit of money for something a bit stronger. Look at your factory inlet and if it's showing signs of wear or torn then it may be worth buying aftermarket, especially if you plan to mod in the future. If you do get a newer Perrin inlet and have a 05-07 LGT you will have an issue lining up the return hose to the spigot on the inlet since the Perrin was redesigned for the newer WRX/STI. From research the AVO is disigned for the 05-07 IIRC making an easier install, but more expensive.
AZP Installs
From personal experience doing this on my car multiple times (don't ask), inlets are really for cars with bigger turbos. 16/STi/etc don't max out the flow of the stock ones and never fit. If it rips or gets damaged then hey why not? If you are feeling like spending STi makes one but its like 1200 lol. It does fit though! -Jake http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://upload.pbase.com/image/137566671.jpg Call directly for your best Whiteline Price! | We also carry almost every manufacturer now, so before you buy parts call us. LosAngelesLGT
I never planned to change inlet till the turbo in consideration got too big to fit the oem inlet.
Spec B
What is the restriction with the stock inlet on bigger turbos? Is it that they start to collapse - or thier physical size is too small?

authenticamd
So if you went with a 48-49lb turbo with the stock 2.4" inlet, would that not really need an upgraded inlet?

AZP Installs
Dont buy the knockoff cheapo ones. They will tear and/or collapse or just be a pita to install due to fitment issues. There are certain brands we simply won't install at our shop. Mike

compsurge
Subaru I think the Perrin (there are 2 versions out there and some don't fit the 05-06/07-09) and AVO are the only two that have some consistency in fit, AVO being better.
mattg
You would be better off repeatedly punching yourself in the face then spending time trying to install a GMS inlet. I have a new OEM inlet on my car.
