Custom Exhaust Options..

purchased 2 of these for the exhaust....hope all works out well

You can pretty much get these N1 "types" off EBAY but I think it better to get the ones with the 3" intake going in.

That way if you have 2.5in piping, you wont "decrease the diameter going into the muffler, and the 3in piping could just weld right up,..Just something I noticed when watching the muffler shop guy do the welds cause most of the cheaper N1 type muffs are 2.5 inlet, but really are 2.25 inlets,...

I finally got around to having the MagnaFlow mufflers (#14225) and tips (#35158) I bought a couple of months ago incorporated into a cat back exhaust. Mufflers and tips were $229 shipped. Shop charged $301 total for pipes and labor.

They went 2.5" from cat to fabricated Y with resonator removed, then 2.25" from Y to mufflers, and 2.25" to tips.

It makes a very pleasing low bass purr at light to moderate throttle, with the voice rising into middle range at moderate to full throttle but doesn't turn raspy or harsh. I've only had a day to play with, but so far a mix of residential, main road, and interstate driving haven't exposed any drone or bad resonances.

Sorry, no sound clip yet. This camera only does silent movies. I'll have to track down our other one that does do sound.

Note: magnaflow.com does not show the correct picture for this tip. I've came across a few other tips on their site that also were not correctly described or pictured. They've corrected some at my urging, but not all.

I will take some pics, but I had something similar done today with 14851 magnaflows.. Got two for 200 on ebay shipped and midas charged me 250 parts/labor...

So for $450 bucks out the door i have a custom exhaust that sounds tits for hundreds less then any pre-fab cat back system.

I'll take pics tomorrow when theres light

This is what I was hoping to get from my muffler shop,..They wanted to charge around $850 and no stainless steel at all like your mufflers,..

Very nice,..

Sounds like your muffler shop is a bunch of tree huggin hippies!

Yo MD- I did practically the same, except the diameter of my mid remained at 2.5, down to 2.25 after Y to oval straight-thru cans w/ 4.5" Tanabe tips. All stainles, totally sweet. Originally kept stock resonator, no droning, and just loud enough to bug my ex-girlfriend a bit. Had an 18" bullet-style resonator welded in (wanted a little more ROAR), dumped what's her name. At first this rig droned and was LOUD in the cabin. After a few days, the resonator seems to have gotten resonated (heh-heh, if ya know what I mean...JK!), and the drone is gone, and the sound is throaty, rumbly, and let's ''em know something special is in the air. I would change it back to stock resonator if it was any louder, but it has settled into an acceptable level.

There was a mild power increase in my totally stock engine. Ultra-accurate Butt dyno indicates better power at speeds above 70-heh heh. This increased as ecu learned after I reset same using vishnu's ultra secret hush hush method (Do a search as I did).

ttiwwp- well no stuff, y'all. I'll post pics after I buy camera, which happens after the car is done. Come to the NY meet later this month if ya can't wait.

TRS - The welds on that exhaust doesn't look like it's done sloppy. Too much globs on some areas and off. But other than that it looks nice. Can you take some picture of how they welded the exhaust hangers on the muffler?
