lmlght14
I had the fault code scanned that is triggering my check engine light and the fault code is "P0021 Intake Camshaft Position Timing - Over-advanced - Bank 2" Has anyone experienced this before? Max Capacity
Yep. Be looking for a new turbo. Listen for a loud whine when your in boost. If the whine turns to a whistle stop driving the car. I also had the P0011 code with my P0021. You'll want to remove the banjo filter if your car has it. FLush the oil system and change the oil and filter. I have almost 4000 miles on my new VF52. I see you have 08, it should not have the banjo filter. Subaru has a $20.00 can of flush or just go to the auto parts store and get a can of Gunk Motor flush and follow the directions. I think the Subaru flush stays in longer. I did the Gunk back in Feb. and the Subaru stuff last oil change. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Engine Build - Click Here
lmlght14
Any ideas what the underlying issue may be? Should I expect to have to get a new turbo very soon?
Max Capacity
I believe the under laying issue is the banjo filter. When it's cluoghed it limits the amount of oil to the valve timing system and turbo. My mechanic removed the filter he said on 7 other cars that has worked well. I think the bigger issue here is, I thought 08's didn't have the filters in them. Did you buy the car new ? do you know the oil change history ? 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). lmlght14
I bought the car with 63k miles, last Saturday from a Subaru dealer. I unfortunately dont have oil change history. The car is at the Subaru dealer today and they told me the oil solenoid is bad.
