Weird creaking sound

Recommended Posts

Which is driving me insane

It's coming from around the rear left strut area, I thought it was where the seat clipped back at first so left it down and sound still continues :/

I've tried shaking the wheel to see if it was loose in any way but nothing. Top of the strut is done up nice and tight.

98 GTB wagon

I've recorded the sound here, youtube wouldn't accept the file so chucked it on soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/codex-1/creaking-sound you may have to turn up sound to hear it. The sounds happens when taking off and releasing clutch slowly (shudders a little when cold, may be clutch that needs adjustment but that's a different thing all together lol)

Hoping someone knows -_-

  • I Donated

You can't adjust the clutch.

Get a prybar and pry on the control arm. See if it has more give then the other side does. You could have bad bushings somewhere.

How old are the struts? I've seen old struts make weird sounds before.

  • 4 weeks later...

hahaha well... while investigating this further I accidentally kneed my bumper and it made a very loud creak, moments later I checked it and the bolt on the bracket was VERY loose and a prong on the fork was bent, bent it back and bolted up tight and MUCH BETTER :D :D :D

This is what happens when you go in with a pre meditated idea that is completely wrong >_<
