paintdrying
The cast iron bracket that the front rotor rests on has cracked. Is this going to cause problems? What does that bracket do and how hard is it to replace?
subikid90
Holy rust! That is your tone ring, your abs will throw a code if you dont replace it. But to replace it you must disassemble the whole hub and it is a pain. Might be cheaper to buy a new/used hub and swap them. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted October 31, 2011 I Donated Share Posted October 31, 2011 yup tone ring for the ABS. Your ABS will not work properly without it. I just replaced both front hub assemblies on my car. They were $40 each from the junk yard. I HIGHLY suggest getting that off your car. That rust is really...and I mean REALLY bad. Not safe to drive on it to be honest with you. Its literally falling apart -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Stasis
Yeah that looks incredibly dangerous ans bad :/ Did you drive through the ocean at any stage? lol
Kennyfvholla
I would also suggest that you replace your tie rods as well. You don't want to be driving at 60 mph on the highway and have one break and completely ruin your car.
paintdrying
Those were probably the original 1996 rotors. I had to take a sledge hammer to get them off. I tore the face off the other rotor trying to pull it off with the 8mm bolts. Welcome to Vermont.
