kostic
I am in the middle of retrofitting my headlights with the morimoto retroquik setup. I tested the bulb in the housing and I started getting some smoke from inside the reflector bulb. Is this normal for the bulb to smoke a bit on first start up? I cleaned the bulb before putting it in the housing with isopropyl alcohol so there are definitely no finger prints on it.
meier motor sports
bulbs do get hot. contaminates will end up breaking the bulb. if the bulb is in wrong and touching the housing, the melting plastic will smoke.
kostic
I only see one way to put the bulb in, it does not seem to be touching the housing. Both bulbs are smoking and with both ballasts.
Catalyst
Did you clean them with a alcohol wipes? "This is an adventure."
kostic
Yeah, cleaned them with the pads. I ran them a bit more and the smoke seems to have stopped. I think everything is ok now, but is it normal to get any smoke?
