AZP Installs
The 5mt swap (or any auto to manual swap) is not as easy as it may seem. Just not just the trans, clutch and shifter. You may need a new rear diff, different driveshaft, new ecu and you will have to rework some wiring in the starter system. As with any swap I never say don't do it, but do it right or don't do it at all. The proper way to do it would be to get a manual car's bulkhead harness and just replace yours but I know that is costly. -Jake http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://upload.pbase.com/image/137566671.jpg Call directly for your best Whiteline Price! | We also carry almost every manufacturer now, so before you buy parts call us. Max Capacity
Jake was being kind. If you have to ask, you have no idea how much work is involved. You can put a 6mt from a STI into a Legacy. There are threads here about it. I spoke with one of the first guy's who did the auto to manual swap, he is tha manager at a performance shop. He did the swap about 5 years ago, still hasn't figured how how to get the cruise to work yet. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). BAC5.2
Yes. Why would you buy a car you don't want? Kodax
The automatic is smooth and sufficient for normal days DD. However, if you are looking for more of a punch or more fun, I would highly recommend the manual. I manage to live with my automatic but I always envy the guys driving manual. On the contrary, the automatic is great in heavy traffic.
AZP Installs
I think if your only option is the auto to get into the car, then it isnt a bad choice. The autos may need some mods to keep up with extra HP but they are good transmissions and hey you cant beat an auto in traffic. My left leg misses my old auto trans in NJ traffic. As for the swap, again realize its not just mechanical parts you are changing. There is a lot of wiring to go into it and it is not cheap. But if an auto car is a deal breaker then wait for a manual one to pop up and save yourself a lot of headache. -Jake http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://upload.pbase.com/image/137566671.jpg Call directly for your best Whiteline Price! | We also carry almost every manufacturer now, so before you buy parts call us. ehsnils
If you can get the 5EAT it's good, the 4EAT is rough (does it's job and is reliable, but not very economical and the only thing worse is the 3AT...)
BAC5.2
Can't get an 05+ LGT with a 4EAT in the US, Nils.
