Subaru Wagon vs Lexus GS430

Recommended Posts

The GS430 has a 4.3l V8 putting out an even 300hp and the car runs 0-60 in just under six. The guy driving the Lexus was impressed.

I think he thinks that it was a WRX to make himself feel better. I am thinking it was probably an LGT. In fact, the current Outbacks are not slow, either...

Garnering some respect is always good.

Reading through all the posts in that thread shows that people are waking up to what Subaru can offer. They even linked to Xenonk's racing videos where Keefe just waltzed past everything else on the track, including a mustang, an NSX (possibly two, or did he just lap the first one?), a mini, a 911, and other assorted cars.

What fun!

There was a guy in the old apartment complex that we lived in in Tustin that had a GS300 with a turbo setup. He was running low 13's on a mild streetable setup.

I was considering a used GS430...I actually liked the GS400 better (still 2nd gen)...the throttle response on the 430 was kinda iffy. Anyway, nice to know that we top GS430's, E430's/420's, 540i's (sans the 6-speed pre-vanos ones...I think those have us beat).

I actually am a big fan of the GS400 over the GS430 for the reasons you mentioned. I also like the fact tht the GS400 has the E-shift buttons on the steering wheel as well, while the GS430 does not. However, learning to drive in the Rochester winter in a rwd-300hp car gave me much experience in learning how to keep cars going where I want them to go in inclement weather. Fun times, absolutely.
