Summary of the track day:

I drove the first two sessions with the coilovers at full soft in the front and half way in the rear. Man, did the car rotate or what! It was crazy fun and a bit scary for some of you riders (if you all ever have the pleasure to ride with me sometime).

Total track time = 80 mins

Total track miles = 77.1 miles

Total miles for the day = 364 miles

Total gallons of gas for the day = 35 gallons

In the 3rd and 4th session, I turned the shocks to level 5 out of 6 (near full stiff) and kept the rear at 3 out of 6. I managed to get the car to hit 110 mph at the two straights (cuz I havent' learned the exits to get the car to hit 120 mph yet). The brake pads held up very well and there is really no dusting of the brake pads, I love these SS-M Endless brake pads! Most of the track you are hitting 3rd and occassionally 4th once you get up to speed. Only the backstraight I had to shift into 5th to keep the revs down from overworking the car. There was this one turn I shifted into 2nd to try out new things, but in all, the track is A BLAST TO DRIVE!

And I have soo many little stories and situations to tell you all when I was messing around with the other drivers.. it's great to have a quiet car, the guy is all suprised to see a family sedan just creep out of a corner out of nowhere and then have to give me a passing signal cuz he can't see the hood of my car in his rear view mirror anymore.

I'll work on re-ripping the video to have the correct audio and compress the video down some more to make sure all the files are under 10 mb so I can upload to http://www.putfile.com

Stay Tuned! (btw, I did pass a few Porsches, an NSX, some mustangs, older RX7s, and a Mini or two during the day).

Racecomp Engineering/Xenonk Legacy GT rocks!!!

the carnage for the day (yes, that is a piece of his ROTOR on the ground), it's the same jump that the STi at One Lap event crashed as well.

That was Luke from TireRack that crashed, right? I have seen the video....pretty scary watching him lose it over the crest and barreling towards the wall.

Xenonk, you just have handling bits right now, correct? If so, man this car with a nice handling package like you have and stage two could be quite the track monster....

Yeah, and he's probably the first guy at a track event to ever damage his car. How many track events have you done?

None. There's lots of guys I know that ruin their cars like that- but hey, it belongs to you so do what you want right? I just think it's silly to take a perfectly good car and bring it home with the wheel pointed out like the Delorean time travel car

Yes, it was his STi. Also, if you watch the video, and you can see the first 2 white tires on the tirewall at the Karussel. That's where he the car into the wall.

yea, all suspension work right now. If I was running about 300 lbs lighter and had 350 whp to play with, and a rollcage, then yes, this car has every right to compete on the Speed Challenge along with the TSXs and Caddys.

Aside from the STi at the One Lap, this is the 2nd black flag that was thrown out on this track.

None.

I rest my case. We mock what we don't understand.

And I just think it's silly to buy a sportscar and never put it through its paces. I'm sure the guy didn't go there intending to bang up his car, but I'm also sure he knew there's always a risk of something like that happening. And I'll bet very good money that he'll be back on track as soon as it's fixed.

You missed my point, Keefe. I wasn't trying to say that the Shenandoah Circuit is dangerous, I was pointing out that shit happens at HPDEs, and that I'm sure the guy driving the S2K was aware of that before he got on track. In other words, he's not the first guy to ever damage a car at a track event, nor will he be the last.

Keefe - how do you handle insurance with all the time at the track? A separate policy for events? Pics of that S2000 and stories of cancelled policies are exactly the reason I have been hesitant to track the car.

Oh no, I was just stating a fact about this track.. everyone is very cautious about it (you can see it in the driving). And yes, people wreck cars probably even worse on public roads than a race course.. and I know that there are some crazy drivers on the public road that think that the interstate is a race track.

So Jedi, is there a difference in safety between doing 80 mph on the NJ turnpike vs. 80 mph through a race track?

he can surely state that he was in an driving instructed clinic to improving driving skills (of which is true). This is no any way in shape or form of racing or a timed event with no start or stop. His insurance company will file this as comprehensive (it would fall in the same catergory as hitting a curb and falling asleep at the wheel and then hitting a tree on a public road).

You may get a seperate policy for track insurance, but that's up to you.

I have only totaled my car and claimed only once to the insurance company. They did not raise my rates. IT IS however is claimed as an AT-FAULT. This is pretty much treated as a same case as if you DECIDED to drive through a snow storm and wreck your car by accident. It's part of the risks that the insurance companies already take into consideration. They know that you are putting yourself in danger as well as everyone around you when you get behind the wheel (no matter how good or safe of a driver you are). That's why they ask you how many miles do you drive to and from work to put into consideration of your premium. Reason why people get cancelled policies is because they are too high of a risk to cover (a lost cause so of speak). If a guy already gets speeding tickets, DUIs, a couple of claimed AT-Fault accidents, I am sure that another AT-FAULT accident at a track event (putting one self in MORE risk), the insurance will drop you.

Same thing on the track, it's no different that an accident occurs on the track or public road, it's all an accident no matter how you see it. It's just that the risks are higher at the track IF the driver decides to not to be cautious. You can perfectly be fine to even treat the track as a public road. Many people drove the track at legal highway speeds and were really content about driving at a speed that they cant get a speeding ticket. That's why the track has develop the rules for point-bys and passing zones.. everyone can drive comfortably and safely around the track at their own pace. If you happen to be a faster driver, expect to get more point-bys.

Are you referring to the Speed World Challenge? If so, do you mean NSXs? (TSXs are in the Touring Car classification, we're in GT)
