daily-driver-rally
I have a 1997 Outback with a 2.5L and manual transmission. I spun a rod bearing and need to replace the engine. I found a used engine from a 1997 Outback, but it is a 2.2L and automatic transmission. Does anyone know if I would be able to swap these engines? Thanks! Osei
Switching the flex plate and the flywheel will get it mounted. Will have to do a search on this swap, for you may have to ground the neutral start switch on your ecu for the auto may not have this pin in its harness. You will also have to deal with the EGR for the manual engine doesn't have one, while the auto does. May be as simple as blocking the port. JohnEgg should be chiming in soon. O.
