djnet5
I have a 2005 Legacy GT Limited with the EJ255 turbo and need a clutch. I'm not running stage 1 or 2 or anything, I just have a stock Legacy, but I don't want to take it to the dealer to get it replaced (don't have that kind of money). Found a shop in my area that will do the job if I provide them the parts for a small amount of money - but I have no clue what I'm looking at with clutches and don't want to have to take it back. The clutch kit here: http://www.subarupartsforyou.com/cp_partdetail.php?partid=14488 is what I had been looking at, since this seems to be an OEM clutch kit. However, after talking to the guy at my local NAPA, I'm wondering if this will work and save me a few hundred bucks: http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx?A=NCF1115026_0335401201&An=599001+102005+50068+2068008+25008+503003+503499&Ar=AND(P_RecType%3aA) I know I also need a flywheel. I found one of those. Please help! Thanks in advance everyone!
Max Capacity
Call Mike or Jake at http://www.AZPinstalls.com they are in NJ and can help you out with a great price on parts. They are in northern NJ so I'm not sure if they are close enough to do the job for you. OH, IMO stay away from a stock OEM clutch. IMO they are a POS. You may want to look into the TSK3 throwout bearing kit too. Well worth the piece of mind. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). djnet5
Honestly, I'll be selling the car soon (going off to school) and don't want to dump a ton of money into it before I sell it. I was just wondering if the one I saw from NAPA actually fit the Subaru.
Max Capacity
It's a part from a trusted store, it should fit. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. djnet5
There are different clutches for turbo and non-turbo Legacys though, and although NAPA's database suggests this clutch is for turbo engines, the price doesn't seem right - all of the other clutches for turbo engines have a higher price. Am I just getting a good deal or is it wrong?
AZP Installs
The parts difference is probably due to differences in capacity. To save some money for the NA model they probably used a lighter material. NAPA is a decent company so the clutch for the turbo should be fine. However make sure it is the correct one for whatever flywheel you use. The stock oem is a dual mass flywheel and the oem clutch might be different than the NAPA one. If you use a single mass flywheel then a bunch of clutches will fit and are interchangeable between models etc. -Jake http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://upload.pbase.com/image/137566671.jpg Call directly for your best Whiteline Price! | We also carry almost every manufacturer now, so before you buy parts call us.
