Mix and match PP and discs?

So I need to get a new clutch, and the guy down the street from me is selling a clutch masters pressure plate since he got a good deal on an ACT package. The price is incredible, but I'm wondering if there are any possible issues with me getting a brand new clutch disc of another brand and using a clutch masters pressure plate. I can't seem to find a new CM disc anywhere

You'll be fine.

Just as long as the thickness and diameter of the new disc are the same, there is no problem.

Lots of people use OE discs in ACT PP's without any issue.

Not necessarily true. To run an ACT clutch (for instance) in a Legacy, you have to swap to a WRX or WRX size/pattern flywheel. Can't answer for the Clutch Master, but I'd do some research--which you are doing, and hopefully someone smart will chime in.

The flywheel bolt pattern does not make one bit of difference when considering whether the clutch disc will work with the pressure plate.

And you can buy an ACT clutch kit that will bolt to the SMFW in the 07-09 LGT. No need to buy a different flywheel, not sure why you had to get one in your 08.

Perhaps I was misled or misunderstood. I did a lot of this via email from Iraq. But, when I went to the ACT and IAG sites, they claimed that the clutch required the ACT flywheel or a WRX flywheel. I went the cheaper FHI route. I did this two years ago, so perhaps they've made a Legacy-specific PP and disc since then? But a quick check shows that IAG and ACT still say the swap is required. http://www.iagperformance.com/shopping_cart/products.php?cat=682

ACT part number SB5-HDSSL is the Legacy part number that uses the 07+ SMFW.

I already got an OEM WRX flywheel that's waiting to be installed, I'm just curious to now if I can go ahead and get this PP and buy a new disc of any brand.

So long as the specs of the disc are the same, there won't be any issue (diameter and thickness).

You could even use an OEM disc!

And to clarify, I mean the bolt pattern for the PP to flywheel, not the flywheel to the crank.

I think that's implied. The flywheel to crank bolt pattern is the same for all EJ engines.
