If you are replacing engine mounts, get the STi Group N. Should definitely pick up the same transmission mount as well as pitch stop mount. I literally got all those installed today and they really make a world of difference in responsiveness, handling, sound..

Since you have the engine out it might be a good idea to get upgraded pulleys. RS headers. MSD ignition. Intake. Paint and engine dress up while it is out.

sti mounts are a waste of money. If you want better mounts, go with Group N engine and transmission mounts.

Stage 1 clutch kit and lightweight flywheel are good mods, as well as a light weight crank pulley.

You can put intake spacers on there...not sure where to buy them

Have you looked at the aftermarket upgrade FAQ at the top of the forum?

once the flywheel is off, check the ''oil sep plate'' on the back of the engine. they leak. the replacement metal plate, a must do if yours it is plastic, and highly recommended if yours is aluminum, is not expensive., about $25. (you need the screws too.)

at the very least you need to reseal it with RTV ultra gray. do not use too much sealant, it can glob up on the inside and travel to the cam shaft and block an oil channel.

have fun.

Do all the seals, while you are in there.

Also install a new tensioner when you install your new timing belt.

I have never done just a light weight crank pulley alone...so I don'tknow how much of a difference it makes...however a light weight crank pulley paired with a light weight flywheels makes the engine much more free reving.

I have a lightweight pulley from Perrin that is going in this weekend. My car has already had a lightweight flywheel before I purchased it, so I can let you know what kind of difference the Perrin pulley has once it gets installed.

Poorly designed cheap pulleys or copies and knock-offs of major brands can have severe side effects because of too much underdrive of the alternator, power steering, and/or air conditioning units, which are not spinning fast enough. These lead to dips in alternator voltage, power assist, and air conditioning effectiveness that may be noticeable, especially at idle. The headlights may dim when coming to a stop, or the stereo may lower in volume, for instance. Too much underdrive for a race car is not much of a concern, but for a daily driven vehicle it can be a major annoyance.

Wait a sec, what is the definition of an underdriven pulley?

The GrimmSpeed pulley people state that they are underdriven: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120789179582&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Quote: "Lightweight Crank Pulleys reduce parasitic drag placed on the crankshaft by under driving the accessories such as Alternator, Power Steering and Air Conditioning. Under driving slows down the accessories to use less energy from the crankshaft but doesn't slow them down to the point the accessory operation becomes effected.

Most of the power gains are produced from the lightened weight of the crank pulley. Tests show that an average of 2.7 HP is gained from every pound of weight that is reduced from the crankshaft."

So are all lightweight pulleys underdriven? That doesn't seem right.

Not all lightweight pulleys are under drive pulleys....

Just ones that are a different size and lighter are under drive. stock size and light is just lightweight
