I know ITSME and a few others commented here

I am more interested in the 6.2 inch non-motorized unit. This car is mainly driven by my father and he needs to have things right there in front of him, including a dedicated GPS button. Therefore, I would like to know what people think about this unit.

It will be going into a 2009 Forester. The factory radio is already starring at you, with the screen vertically mounted, and its dimensions 133 (H) x 201 (W) x (depth unknown) are more than generous to accommodate the aftermarket unit which are...identical in size, nearly all features (except the 7" takes an external USB harddrive; the 6.2" does not). I am also unsure if the 6.2" one has 2 SD card slots, one for maps and the other one for music.

If anyone has any experience or additional input, it would be appreciated.

And by the way, here is the link for harnesses. I know I asked for it myself, but all I got was a user name:

David Carter "SVXdc"

I see. Thank you for the reply. Where are you hiding the SD CARDS on your unit and does it indeed have two: one for navi and one for music?

Also, do you have a bunch of wires sticking out of the unit just like in one of the pictures posted for the 6.2 inch unit that I referenced or is it more like harness with lose ends which can be soldered to a harness like our foum friend is selling? Tks.

Hey sorry for the delay. The radio has a removeable piece of the faceplate where it holds both SD Cards (1 with GPS Maps and the other with music if you wanted to use it). The removeable piece of the faceplate seems kinda cheap so I w ouldnt get this unit if you plan on using an SD card for music (i.e. removing and re-installing over and over again). I am very happy with the unit so far. The stock speakers sound much better. As for the additional wires that all depends additional items your hooking up with the radio? If you only want it for the radio/cd player and GPS features then you would only need the black harness (pictured below) and the GPS antenna. If you wanted more features (i.e. Aux in) which I have for my Sirius Radio then you will need to connect that.

I attached some photos of the unit I installed from Ebay plus one more of the finished product. Let me know if you have more questions.

**Note** just be cautious as a true "Double Din" sized opening varies on these radios (ones from China). What I mean is I had to do quite a bit of trimming on the Double Din aftermarket bracket I picked up just to get the unit to fit in the radio opening. I also had to cut the metal stock Radio Frame to allow the radio to sit at the correct depth.

Are you referring to what's circled in red in the picture below? If so, those are the RCA connectors for sub output, video input and stuff like that. The regular speaker/power/illumination wires plug into the connector circled in green. The harness is in the 2nd picture (also circled in green). Those wires can be soldered, or crimped to the reverse harness you get (from SVXdc or wherever).
