Kennyfvholla
hmm I wonder how that engine would run in my sedan and my 4EAT.. but, with the DOHC heads, some cams, and an exhaust
Jab83
probably ok. lol.
Stasis
Is yours a 5MT or a 4EAT? and Stasis, I think we should all invest in some closed deck 2.2's with HLA heads. That's what the STi 22B ran if I'm not mistaken. It made like 270 HP without a problem. And the twin turbo setups only work in RHD cars Man that's a pain :/ crazy places with LHD
Jab83
I know. I've always liked driving rhd's anyways.
Kennyfvholla
Man that's a pain :/ crazy places with LHD yeah, but a single turbo setup (like the 22B) is not too bad of a setup probably ok. lol. and yeah, not as good as my 2.2/2.5 idea. that would really make it haul
Jab83
2.2 block? with 2.5 heads???
Kennyfvholla
yes, closed deck 2.2 bottom end and turbo components out of a '92 - '94 Legacy SS with my '96 HLA heads and intake manifold, and a larger turbo. And of course, all of the other necessary mods that come with putting a turbo engine in our cars..
Jab83
hmmmmm. I'd say use newer 2.0 heads.... from like a wrx.
Kennyfvholla
but, my HLA heads have the same, lifters, porting and combustion chamber design as the '93 - '96 heads on the STi's just different springs, cams, and valves
Jab83
are they setup for turbo? or are you having to tap em?
Kennyfvholla
They can handle about 10 lbs of boost as they are now, but I'm pretty sure that once the valves and springs are replaced with something much stronger, they would be good to go for 10 to 20 lbs of boost no problem

JE makes a "shaved" piston for the EJ22T that has a 2mm shorter deck height. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
