enzotheracer
My ole lady and i are looking to get another suby for the winter time. found a 93 impreza with a 1.8 in it for 1300. how good are those motors. I have a 2.2 in my legacy now. was wondering what is common problems for the 1.8 vs. the 2.2. any and all help is appreciated.
Legacy Wagon
Supposedly it's as reliable. I've heard of some guy complaining about his, but these people seem to like them. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31297 You'll get better gas mileage I'm sure I've heard they dont have knock sensors though...which is weird to me. May not be factual. I would just research them to be honest, but from what I can tell they look to be a good, but underpowered engine.
wilz02wrx
You can get some power out of them pretty well with a turbo. They can handle abuse pretty well, not as well as the 2.2 Or take a 2.2 shortblock and keep the 1.8 heads and wiring for higher comp. That solves the power issues haha
Legacy Wagon
Haha, that'd be awesome.
enzotheracer
lol. nice. thank you for the info. i would do the head swap if it wasn't going to be a daylie driver.
wilz02wrx
if you kept the 1.8 heads and put in the 2.2 shortblock it really wouldnt hurt the dd status imo. but the 1.8 is a really reliable engine they just seem gutless. although i had a gl wagon with on and 410s and it still had a little power haha
