arlia101
First, NO - this is not another thread asking how to turn on/off the horn sounding for remote [un]lock. I figured that out after reading the manual. My dad has an '05 Outback with the factory anti-theft system/ remote, and it does not sound the driving horns when it [un]locks - instead, there's a nice pleasant chirp. I'm looking for something I can install in mine to do that instead of the horns. Any input on what that would be, or where I get it?
arlia101
To follow-up, I've seen these two threads already: http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2800454 http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2392454 The first seems to explain where those quiet chirps come from; the second would be pretty nice, too. I've got wiring diagrams for the remote receiver, and should be able to find and divert the wires that would go to the horn. Is it just that simple - do I go get a chirper / split the wire off to the parking lights?
johnegg
it has been my experience on 97 - 98 cars and my 00 , that the chirp is only on cars that have the extra ''alarm'' part of the package. the cars with out it in '97 make no sound and in '00 honk the horn. does his car have ''keyless entry'' or the ''alarm'' as well? jamesm113
My car has the dealer installed alarm, it uses the siren instead of the horn. However, I don't think I'd call it pleasant sounding.
