Max Capacity
Yes. You need to learn how to check the oil and top it off as needed. These things like oil. My 05 started using oil at about 75,000 miles. To check the oil, I drive to work, open the hood, pull the dip stick about 2" close the hood go to work. 8 Hours later, open the hood wipe the stick check the oil. If it reads low or like my 09 Spec B the oil level forms a V, flip the stick around and read the back of it. I sometime loosen the oil fill cap too. ALWAYS top it off as needed. Oh welcome to the forum. Lots of info here, hope you like to read. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Engine Build - Click Here
Balrock
According to Subaru, 1qt every 1,000 miles is "normal". That being said, the only time I know of a Subie eating that much oil is from a cracked ringland. You might want to consider a compression test. With all my mods and my heavy foot I might eat a half quart every 3,000 miles. Can't hurt.
AZP Installs
All signs point to a cracked ringland. As balrock01 said, get a compression test... -mike
