Wahoo, have to replace a head gasket.

Recommended Posts

What a way to start off the week. Well last week it over heated (approaching red, dealer couldn't find anything other than low coolant. Drove fine over the weekend. On the way to work this morning, started to over heat AGAIN. Limp it to the dealer, exhaust in the coolant, blown head gasket.

FYI: ~185K miles, ran AP stage 1 since 55K, then BNR 16G turbo since 179K. I guess the 18 psi was a little much on the old gasket.

Nice. so you "get the opportunity" to make a new bulletproof engine?? Sounds fun. :-/................... but really that sucks. Especially since the dealer gave you a green light before the death... gotta love that.

IMO the 18psi should have been fine...if it had a good tune.

My 05 went to 19psi last Sept with 130,000 miles, at 142,000 miles still no problems with the HG's.

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.
