08' spec b front end on 06' spec b???

Has anyone ever done it?? Looking to replace my damaged front bumper with something new and I was originally looking to go JDM which is looking to be into the $1500 dollar range to have sent to my front door. The front bumper off the 08' spec b gets rid of that pudgeyness that USDM models have compared to JDM spec bumpers. A Capa certified 08 spec b front bumper is only 138 bucks. I'm wondering how the mounting brackets will match up between the two production years.

Hmm it is a good possibility that I already have to replace one of the fenders, and the headlights are getting replaced as well as the grill.

thats how it would come, looks like I would need the fog light surrounds and the tow hitch cover as well.

As long as it isn't a nightmare to fit up, can someone confirm if this will mate up to the 06' fenders? Wouldn't mind getting new fenders to be honest i like the lines in the newer one.

Not a bad idea Drift Motion. Yea I see what your talking about with those pictures, the bumper and fender are both different but I'm almost positive the hoods are identical. Its not a radical change just a face lift so I would assume the mounting brackets would all be the same?? I don't think they would go through the trouble of changing that stuff around (mounting holes etc).

This is what I'm working with now:

you cant really see the dent in the fender, its fixable but the adjuster threw a new one on the list anyways.

I got enough in insurance $$ to order a 06 JDM spec b front end and put it all together, but this 08 face transplant option is definitely more cost efficient and I do like the lines on the newer US spec b bumper.

The kit I found is OEM and comes with the mounting brackets to make it work. More expensive but less work intensive, just fix the fender and replace the bumper.

Yet the idea of eventually working my way to looking something close to this down the road is quite enticing:

decisions decisions.

I really want to to this to my 2007 Legacy!! The things I am positive you need to replace would be the fenders, headlights, grille, and bumper. What i'm not sure about is the hood, it looks like it should fit but not positive, and all the bracing for the parts to connect to. I've came up with a list of the parts I know we would need and the (rough estimate) prices:

Left and Right Fenders: $180 a piece

Headlights: $150-$200 a piece

Grille: OEM-$100 Aftermarket-$130

Hood: $300

So depending on if you needed the hood or not, the total for the swap would be around $1100, or $800 without the hood. I have also been looking into the JDM bumper for the 05-07 and can't find anything less than $800. There are few good places to get them though such as, http://www.japanparts.com , and a post on the forum I am sad to say I can't find anymore. The guy was selling 3 JDM bumpers for $850 a piece with the bracing and everything included. The other is a complete JDM front end on ebay for $1000. Comes with fenders, hood, headlights, bumper, and basically the whole front end assembly still attached to the bumper... would be an amazing deal if they would just sell the bumper and assembly by itself!

Those ebay clips are a good deal but it looks like most of em have damage in obvious places. So figure in another 500-1000 for paint, which you could almost make up selling the hood and etc that comes with it. Lots of work but you'd have a jdm front end for really cheap

Yeah, a few months back I had to replace most of front end (bumper, headlights, hood, grille) because of a DEER  Too bad I wasn't thinking of this swap before I had it repaired... The JDM spec b swap is really tempting but the 08-09 front end has always been my favorite! And seeing the pic of that 08 really just pushes me over the edge :D
