Grille Removal

Recommended Posts

I went to take a look at how to remove the grille and I cannot seem to get the bottom clips out. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Also what did everyone do with the chrome strip that goes all the way around the car?

I'm pretty sure you take a screwdriver and push down on the top tab and it should come out nice and easy. If that doesn't work take needle nose pliers and get the top and bottom at the same time. If that doesnt work, break the clips and get new ones from Subaru. They're cheap haha

I left mine. It looks barfy, but I dont give a crap.

Also, did you paint your turn signal lights or just tint them really dark?

I'm going to put some on my car this weekend. The 90's and 91's

didn't have them :/ I was planning on tinting mine so it wouldn't be

so ugly. I'm used to not seeing a turn signal there.

Wow...weird. I just took a pair of the junk car and it had everything I need.

I suppose I'll have to cut my fender and stuff. Not a big deal.

And they have tinting in a can. VHT Night Shades and Autozone has some Dark Tint in a can or something. It turns out pretty good. I did it for my RS's turn signals and side markers and you can see them just fine at night and they still show up orange.

They're the ones above the fog lights. I didnt clear coat them. They still look ok. If it turns out crappy later I'll just resand and respray with clear coat next time. Been a few months now so far though and they seem fine.

Here's the side markers.

2 light sprays over it and it comes out that black. The first coat goes on super light and the second make its exponentially darker. It's like $12 a can, but you can do a ton of lights with it. I have most of my can left :/ lol

Well here's the cheapies (all 4 and they fit the Legacy) for $24. Dont come with mounting stuff, but you can probably figure out a way to do it for pretty cheap. Pretty sure all the nuts and bolts might cost you $3 and the washers may be $2. So for around $30 you can have mudflaps all the way around :D

They're not cheap :/ I got my 555 ones for $60 though :D But they're 20 years old

Also the rally armor ones came in tonight. They're basic. Huge. No pre-drilled holes. Not

really an issue as I'll cut them down if they need it.
