LEGGTLTD
Well, I got a BelPro Vector 995 Radar/Laser detector about a week ago. It's supposed to be a pretty effective unit and got good reviews. You can also supposedly upgrade the software on it when there are new types of detection used by law enforcement. Although I don't know how you do that. Anyway, I'm in a hurry taking the surface street to get to the freeway, going about 65(Few stop lights) and the detector goes off. Beep, beep beep. 'LASER'.... About 300 yards up there was a motorcycle cop with his laser gun. Boy I'm glad I got the Vector Megan header,Perrin TMIC, TD06-20G,AEM CAI, Lachute DP, Avo BOV, BC Coilovers, Magnaflow catback, Hawk HPS pads, Stoptech lines, Snow WI
zmarko
Cool. Just don't get "too comfortable" like some people do when they get detectors. Some people stop 'paying attention' and don't look out for speed traps/etc because they feel that's what the detector is for. Still gotta keep a good eye out for smokey. LEGGTLTD
Yeah, I hear ya. It's just nice to have a little warning of a possible ticket It's so easy to go fast in that car and not realize the speed... TSiWRX
Just be sure you know how lucky you are! What's scary about laser enforcement is how specific it is -- typically, when one hears the dreaded laser alert/warning, no matter how good their detector, they're already toast. You definitely have a top-tier detector, just be sure you use it to its fullest extent. Certainly, radar signals will bounce enough and spread wide enough for you to get decent warning - even instant-on can be relatively easily caught in this manner. And POP warning should have you jamming on your brakes (providing that it's safe to do so) before a switch-and-ticket move can be made by the enforcer....but laser is another story if you're the only one in the enforcer's crosshairs. If you know that laser is used frequently for enforcement along your route of travel, it would be good practice to not speed unless you are in a "pack," and neither the lead nor trailing vehicle (and certainly not exhibit excessively aggressive behavior even among the pack itself). Otherwise, if you must lead or know that loner-travel is either your style or is just a characteristic of traffic conditions, investing in a truly worthwhile laser jammer such as the Bel Pro 905 (which should be compatible with your 995), Escort Shifter ZR3 (same as 905, essentially; paired with the Escort X50), Blinder, or Mimic - and using VEIL (my next purchase), would definitely be the way to go. In top-tier radar/laser detectors as well as laser jammers, it's honestly my humble opinion as well as personal belief that they're -ALL- good choices, and that the final "go" regarding purchasing should weigh more heavily based on personal preference and local/known-travel enforcement practices, techniques, and hardware. Aside from that, it's just about being a smart driver, and playing "the game" correctly! I wish you many miles of safe, speedy travel - ticket-less and points-free, of course! -A <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family
