Clean up hub before reinstall?

Recommended Posts

Hey Team,

Learning to turn wrenches on my 92 wagon. Got the hub out to press bearings in and now that its back from the shop I want to clean it up before tossing it back in. So, sorry for the lunatic question, but now that the shiny new bearings are in, I don't want to screw them up. Should I just wipe it down with a towel and call it a day? I pulled the ball joint and want to clean that cavitiy up as well... is there a product I should use or just elbow grease?

Yup a towel and elbow grease, although i would clean out the ball joint cavity as best you can with some sand paper, they are known to get rusty and making ball joint removal a PITA. Also i wouldn't add to much grease to the bearings they come already packed with grease, I would just lube up you inner seals well and reassemble, and hopefully they installed a front seal?
