IrishLt
Yes i did the insta-noob, post before you search....but i need a solid answer and soon so i know what to grab. As i'll have one day to work on the car for like a 3week period.....Anyways, i popped a D@mm SES light, flashed at first now is just solid. Had it read and it showed as a cyl 3&4 misfire....the cylinders aren't misfiring. I know Crankshaft sensors sometimes cause that...but most of my car knowledge is domestic and none of it is 4 cylinder knowledge let alone H4. Any and all help appreciated. Thanks in advance -L.T. subikid90
The best bet with these problems is to go though the FSM and check for sensors working. http://www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/1997_Legacy_FSM/ Here is a link to the FSM for you car. I have heard of the crank sensor causing false codes before so it is possible. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
johnegg
first swap the wires front to rear, see if the misfire moves to 1 & 2. my next guess is the coil. it is split front, 1 & 2, rear 3 & 4. or maybe the igniter.

IrishLt
Thanks guys, I'm thinking all just do the whole ignition system from coil to plug. Won't hurt anything, I just knew that some sensors would do weird codes sometimes as i didnt feel any misfires and its not rough or done it again after 3 days. So here's hoping its something little and dumb. -LT
