auditom
Stock Cat on my sis's 06 2.5I is bad. I'm thinking about either ordering the Stromung highflow cat or throwing in a DP and shimming the rear 02 sensor -for offroad use of course Anyone done a DP job on a 2.5I? gil_ong
i don't think a DP is gonna work on a 2.5i
peteyjr
DP's are for turbo Subie's. NA 2.5l motors will have it's torque characteristics changed if you open the exhaust . Not really worth messing with. I pulled the cat and added a freer flowing exhaust on a 97 LGT with only marginal results.

auditom
Looks like I will have to talk to Dale at Boxer4racing about that Stromung highflow, unless there is another place I can pick up a cat that you know of (besides the stealership.) Osei
Subaru has 100k warranty on cats. If not over that, take it back. Seems quite a few 2.5I owners had problems with their cats after that recall and reflash of ECU last year. O.

auditom
The dealer said it was only covered up to 80K. The car has 130K
Osei
Check before ordering and have your costs lined up. If the 06 is like the 07,the first cat is integrated into the header. So you have to have welding done to remove the old, add whatever you purchase and put new flanges on. Should not be a problem for any good muffler shop. Just want you to be aware in case you didn't already. O.
auditom
Good info -Thanks. I know the dealer charges about $650 for the cat. Not sure if that includes the headers though.
Osei
check with salvage yards for the header. They may sell it with the cats attached. Only 9 bolts and the plugs for 02 sensors. Very easy job. 1/2 hour. You will have to remove the one bolt that holds the mid pipe up to give romm to let the unit sag for freedom of alignment. O.
