How long did you run normal oil before switching to synthetic?

If you want to extend your service intervals I would change over to synthetic. With a proper synthetic (Amsoil, Redline, Motul, Elf, etc) you can extend your intervals out to the 8k+ range with the proper filters. This would offset the extra cost of synthetics and you would have a better oil in there to boot.
