Timing belt job 1998 Legacy GT

Recommended Posts

Any idler pulleys in there if they feel like a bearing is bad, if you can do the timing cover seal that's always a good idea too. Flush the radiator with some water to get any gunk out, then just make sure everything's sealed up tight and to spec.

is this the 105K change or the 210k change??

subaru idlers are very expensive. but not replacing them can be mor expensive if one fails. i buy timing belt kits from ''theimportexperts'' on ebay. they have good parts and good prices. but i also change everything every time, belt, all idlers, tensioner, water pump, and any leaking seals.

asking any idler to go 200k is a risk in my opinion, even a subaru oem part. but good quality parts should go 100k. so i change them all every time and reduce my risk.

(i just read a post today about an '05 that lost an idler at 70k miles. $hit happens.)
