.R Geil
Hi, Was wondering if anyone knew how much a timing belt and water pump replacement would cost from a shop?
Max Capacity
Plan on $1000.00 maybe $750 from a independant shop....call one and ask. I spent about $525 on parts alone when I did mine 2 years ago. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). AShoe
A shop near me quoted 5 hours ($400) for labor.
KCwagon
$400 would be considered a good deal for labor. $500 is probably closer to average. The cost of parts will vary depending on what you need to replace. You will at least need a new belt (obviously), a new tensioner, and the small pulley next to the tensioner. If the water pump is leaking you will need a new one of those. Fredbeans parts has all the replacement parts you may need in one, nice & neat package. You might check it out. Average range should be $750-$900 depending on shop rate and parts needed.
Max Capacity
Might as well do the 2 drive belts (PS & Alt) and change the anti-freeze. Thermostat ? It all adds up. May be close to a oil change too. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it.
