dang nails..

My TPMS light came on the other day, but it happened to be the coldest day we've had so far. No big deal. Went to the gas station and filled up the tires. 36psi all around.

The next day, TPMS light on again! WTF? I check the tires, and they are at ~33ish psi except the RR. It was at 26psi.

Filled them up and drove home. Got out again this morning, TPMS light on.

Drive to work, come home, check the tire 22.5psi. I fill it up and pull the wheel off when I get home. Dang. Nail sticking into the sidewall. Likely not fixable.

I've got 31k on the OE RE92's, so I can't just replace one. Bummer.

Looks like I need to order new tires before I was expecting. I'm on the fence between 225/55/17 Pilot Sports, and 245/50/17 Conti-Extreme-Contacts.

I still haven't decided, but I have to choose right away. I'd love to get dedicated snows, but that's not reasonable.

I'll probably get the Pilot Sports.

I am just worried about that size fitting with Bilstein HD's.

It doesn't look like a 245/50/17 will clear the bilsteins. That's the same size as a 245/45/18 which no one with a bilstein equipped car is running.

Looks like I am going to go for a set of Pilot Sports. Bummer, since I was really interested in the Contis.

Anyone have input on the tire life of the Pilot Sports? We had a set on my wifes old car, and they seemed OK but we got rid of the car only having put ~5k on them.

Will I get 45k of spirited miles out of them? I'll never track or auto-x on them.

Found a place local to work that has a set of 225/55/17 Pilot Sport A/S Plus in stock. Getting them Tuesday afternoon. Not a bad deal, either. $775.80 installed.

I would have preferred to order them from Tire Rack, but this will have to do.

I intend to do that in the future if something happens to a pilot.

The RE92's are insanely expensive. It's a great tire, but it's just not worth the near $300/ea price.
