LegacyNC
So I was giving a set of lowering springs as a gift. i was wondering if its safe to install the springs on the factory struts. Any advice would be greatful.
N.sane
It's safe, it just might ride a little bouncier and/or firmer. If I could do it all over again I'd pair it with aftermarket struts/shocks at the same time though. What kind of springs?
theflystyle
my question would be why was it a gift. did someone else install them with bad results?
mk6933
then your question to your friend should be... "Why the hell are you giving me springs, you wanna blow my struts up?" how should we know why "your" friend is giving you springs. he/she is "YOUR" friend. anyways, aftermarket springs on stock strut will definitely drop your car, and your ride comfort will decrease, but handling will slightly increase. the stock strut will eventually blown. LegacyNC
They are the Tein lowering springs, they are NEW and they were giving to me by my sister for a birthday gift. So from what i getting is i can but i take the risk of blowing stock struts. But i will say its hard to look at the in the box.
N.sane
Which model of Tein's? There's H.tech which is a mild drop and the S.tech which slams it.
LegacyNC
They are the S.tech. think it will be safe to put them on with stock struts
sulk
s techs are really low, check the suspension forum for other members feedback.

LegacyNC
Man that sucks. I really wanna get them put on. Guess i will have to save up for struts, Got any advice on good struts. And when you say slammed, is it gonna be a pain with daily driving
N.sane
I guess it depends on you whether it's gonna be a pain or not. Here's some scenarios: - people's low beams may seam like high beams in your rear view mirror - scraping your front bumper when parking or coming out of a driveway - scraping your door if you're parallel parked - scraping your exhaust when you're backing up For struts, the Legacy is really just limited to a few options if you're buying new Koni Sport - adjustable rebound dampening and uses stock top mounts Bilstein HD - not adjustable and uses Spec.B top mounts (raises ride height slightly) Tokico HTS - adjustable and uses Spec.B top mounts (raises ride height slightly) Keep in mind whichever struts you choose, your suspension travel will be limited because the springs drop it so low so you might hit your bump stops frequently going over bumps. burnout8488
S Techs blew my stock struts. Looked damn good though.
pre-dent
Sell them and purchase another brand, ex. Swift, that is more suitable for the stock struts.
N.sane
Swifts actually drop around as much as S.techs, around 1.5". They kinda false advertised it as a mild drop. It's one of the reasons why Underdog replaced the Swifts on his Koni struts with Epic Engineering springs.
mk6933
I have Swifts on my stock struts. They actually ride pretty good. When they blown, then I'm gonna get some Koni or Tokico.
